Fridaze

I did something crazy today and didn't get out of bed until 12:30! After a busy week, two birthdays, a hockey pub night, a picnic by the lake and a going away dinner, I decided that today I was going to dedicate it to some cleaning and pampering. I vacuumed the house and cleaned up the kitchen. Then I took a shower and washed my hair, good bye straight locks!  I've decided that as long as I have a job, I will treat myself to a blowout every month or so since I go to this small new place where they've agreed to wash and straighten for just 20 dollars, and I can't complain because it costs the same if I go get it done at the Hairdressers School, but they don't use conditioner, it's a different person each time and my hair didn't turn out as bright and shiny as when Ruth does it.

To be honest, I haven't quite decided what this blog is for, I just like expressing myself with words and photographs. Today I also wanted to do something new and review some products I have. I don't wear a lot of makeup but I love owning it, as well as perfume and jewelry. I feel that since I turned twenty, I've been spending more time on the details, which I used to find superficial, but now I'm just having fun with it. And if I don't do it now, I'll just regret it later on...So here are just four things for now:

1. The first product is C.O. Bigelow's Rose Salve. It's been awhile since I've wanted this product, I don't remember where I saw it but when I was twelve or thirteen or so, my aunt gave me a face product made from roses, it was probably the first skin/beauty product I ever had and since then I've loved a light smell of roses, not too overpowering though, so it doesn't smell like and old lady's perfume. I use it on my lips and cuticles as well as a little on the sides of my nose and I love it. The lack of instructions on it makes me wonder if it's a scam of sorts, but I'm more than satisfied with the way it softens and the slight smell it leaves behind.

2. This one was a gift, I mentioned I was interested in Benefit's BeneTint because it was doubly used for lips and cheeks, so my friend got me Stila Cherry Crush Lip & Cheek Stain. It comes like a brush on lip gloss  where you click the end to let the product out. At first I was excited and it smelled really good, like cherry candy but when I tried applying it to my cheeks, I found it hard to do with the brush and then hard to blend with my fingers. Also, the product didn't come out as soon as you twisted it but rather much later. The trick to this might be to use it on your lips first, as to get the product evened through the brush, and then on your cheeks, blending with one hand just as you apply it with the other. However, each time I've tried BeneTint at a beauty counter or wherever, I've been able to blend it in well even once I've put the brush back into the bottle and sealed it. This might be useful for someone on the run, but considering I never really wear any lip colour, this isn't for me.

3. However, my heart goes to this little guy, Bonne Bell Bubble Gum Lip Smacker. I think I've had this tube so long that it would make most makeup connoisseurs run away, but what can you do...There's something 'medicated' about the Chapstick flavours and a fruity or sugary flavour would seem too sweet. So I'm loyal to this tube until I run out.

4. Lastly is Benefit's Bad gal Lash Mascara. I am inlove with all of Benefit's products and wish I could get my hand on more. I was pretty excited to get this one because I needed a new mascara and I'd read good reviews. It's simple design and huge angled brush is perfect and it does make my lashes big and bad, however I have one complaint. When you get home after having a big bad gal night, and you remember your good girl ways and remove your makeup before you go to bed...it runs...and it runs ALOT, it runs so much that even though you feel like you've washed your face, you wake up with racoon eyes anyways, which has never happened to me with any other mascara. I don't think it says anything about being waterproof, which is not an issue for me, but it makes me wonder what would happen if I got caught in the rain with my bad gal lashes on. Nonetheless, I will probably keep using it when I can until it runs out because it does work.

So these are four products, and this was kind of interesting, so I might do this again. Hope you have a lovely weekend! xx
