Squalor

Why hello! I've got this sudden burst of energy to clean up my room. I deserve a nice room, don't I? I'm free tonight to I'm going to do as much as I can, then worry about reading afterwards. Also got a Toga Party of sorts tomorrow, pretty excited about that.

Today in lit lecture, we met Lynn Crosbie and there are no words to describe her. Personally, however, I was not a big fan of Liar, though after hearing about her other works I want to rush out and grab myself a copy to read them. You know when
you really don't match the author to the works?

Speak of which, RIP Salinger, Catcher in the Rye was the best part of high school as I'm sure so many others claim it to be. I've got a few of his books and I never bothered to open them, sadly, his death will remind people of his work and have them reading him again. I wonder if they will make a Catcher in the Rye movie, wouldn't that be interesting...though they'd use like...Zac Efron and that would cause much displeasure in the literary world, I'm sure...
Alright, I've got an avocado sandwich in my tummy and I'm ready to go :) Let's see how much I can get done before I sit back down to watch more episodes of LOST, final season fast approaching!! I am now on...Season 3 Episode 3, steadily catching up. What a geek!

Quick list for memory's sake: (dont get mad)

    • Budapest, Stockholm
    • Amsterdam, Paris, Barcelona
    • London, Edinburgh, Dublin
    • Cefalu, Rome

    • New York, Chicago, Vancouver, Tallahassee

I've got my blog page open so the music can play and I can dance around the room, though I should probably update that silly thing...:) xx

Weston

I am about to attempt some very brave things. Let's see if I can do them.

If I can do this, my soul will grow in every which direction.

Lots of reading to get done, Liar by Lynn Crosbie and Notre Dame de Paris by Victor Hugo, which is a good Wikipedia read if you've got the time. Did you know he's a Saint in Vietnam?

Over and out.

Kim Phuc

Dear life,
today you have changed. Did you feel it? I did.

Today, my friend Leah 'dragged me', though I'm so happy she did, to a seminar.
I had the honour of hearing Kim Phuc speak, and it's changed my life.
She is the girl in this famous photograph.
I don't know how to describe it, but she's just given me so much hope and to empty my heart of it's hate and sorrow and to fill it with love and forgiveness instead. I'm so lucky that I got to hear her story and shake her hand. I really feel like my outlook on life and love and living has really changed.

Thank you.

Ache Eye Kay

Feel much 'fatigue' today.
Pill intake count: 4 + antibiotics (2) = 6.

Reading Modern and Normal by Karen Solie.
Not going to make it to German today.
Finally found my American cash, it was hidden with the lingerie.
Don't know why I didn't look in there first...

One of us...

Hello new followers, all of a sudden you have multiplied to 11! What a lovely surprise, I hope you enjoy the crazy blog that is my mind, I would be overwhelmed with smiles at any comments.

Today I've decided to sit up straighter. Last night, I fixed a friendship and I'm happy I did. That, along with some really good advice from my boyfriend, made me realize some other things, and I need to take action!

Also, I've decided to try cooking and baking more. There's an Apple and Rosemary Turnover with Cheddar crust (or something mouthwatering like that) that I want to attempt, as well as Beef Bourguinion and Beef Stroganoff, not sure what all the beef is about...

No luck in the job world as of yet, although I suppose I could have tried a little harder, and I will. I've done tests for hospitals before, where you get compensation. I've done one on pain and one where I needed to get my brain scanned. What do you think about drug testing though? Although you do get paid in the thousands, the idea kind of frightens me. In any case, I can't do any of that now. Must learn about obtaining a Visa today :)

In Sickness

I am so sick. Ugh.
I have determined it is the accumulation of not having been in the least bit sick for the past 3 years now.

Lots to do, mostly reading, and I'm so behind.
  1. Sociology
  2. Modern and Normal
  3. Notre Dame de Paris
Lots of errands too but luckily they are mostly through the phone. So I must roll up my pyjama sleeves and get to work!
Have you seen Hedwig and the Angry Inch? Studying the play was of real interest to me. I wish you could attend my Literature lectures.

This rock was in San Francisco, in the park there is an Aids Memorial walk. Isn't it a beautiful message though? It means they met in 1969, on July 20th.

New Koi.

Let's do this, I said I would, didn't I? :)

New Year, New Flavia. Well almost, there's still quite a few things to tweak. Dyed my hair a bit too dark, but looks great with new hat from Paul, who came for what felt like a blissful eternity that was heaven. Now he's back at uni and I'm already itching to see him again in a few weeks. Trying to purchase ticket as we speak but can't find my ISIC card, so I'll need to call them in the morning.
sigh.

Lots to do still in the apartment and they are slowly falling into place, but much too slowly to my liking. Paul helped me a lot, putting up a shelf and a blind, we had a fun time at places like Canadian Tire and Pier 1, is it too soon to start dreaming? I have a few things I'm keeping aside for my 'future' abode. Polka dot plates, iron owls...

We've made summer plans and I'm so excited I might just burst, but I don't want to reveal too much. The superstitious side of me feels that I should wait because some envious person out there could see my happyness and send me a curse of sorts...do you ever think about something like that? Silly perhaps. In any case, planning must commence immediately for the best deals. However, finding a job would be ideal right now. Paul helped me buy a printer, so I can [finally] print out my CV, which could use an update actually, and go get a job! Money Money Mooooneeey! Moooney!!

Uni has begun again and now I'll have class everyday but I don't mind, it'll get me moving left and right and give me a reason to shower and brush my hair. I can still have my darling Duvet Tuesdays and Thursdays (and now Mondays too!) But they must end by 5pm the latest :) Italian, German, French, English and Sociology. Got an A- in Biotechnology, which makes me super happy. There was this other science course I was really interested in, but so far I really like my French course so I'm undecided what to do, but I think I'm going to leave everything as it is right now. I'm only half a credit behind which shouldn't be a problem. Imagine a marine biology half credit in Australia! Okay okay sorry, got out of hand there...I'll probably go to somewhere in Europe. Probably next year, if not third year.

Spent a burst of energy cleaning my bathroom and closet, was pleasantly interrupted by Paul from a Casino? in Minneapolis? winning at Slots? I love you. You're buying me dinner, yeah? :D
