Mal du Siecle
Here I am, studying for another exam and procrastination has taken over. I've still got a bunch of Guy de Maupassant and Zola to finish and all my notes to review. I'll be ok. However I must say that my procrastination has led me to be really efficient and organized. I'm itching to move my bed over and I'll probably get on that tomorrow afternoon and get the amazing prints Paul bought me framed so I can hang them up. I've also decided to continue my perfume bottle collection. But now! I've started Glee and so far I love it, no wonder everyone loves it. After this episode, I PROMISE I'll go back to studying! xx

Parrots
It's 2:22pm and my essay is still not complete.
...Il me faut un peu de musique pour me mettre en garre...
I have soooo many fricking clothes, yet I never really make the time to get dressed and when I do, I feel like I always have nothing to wear.
But I've heard this is a common female dilemma.
Clubbing last night made me realize I need more shoes, if not more appropriate and different ones. I've decided that in a couple weeks times, I'll give myself a spending limit and go shopping but not before I eliminate more things from my closet, and also make more space...
In any case, am going rambo and doing some laundry and giving my bathroom a well needed scrub and such before returning to my essay.
Paul heard that plane ticket prices are updated Sunday at midnight, so I'll have to organize myself tomorrow night to see whether the price for the flight I want will go up or down.
Do you like comics? I like comics, more so graphic novels and I can't wait for the time to start reading again! The pile on my bedside table reaches my hip bone :] Also, have removed music box from my blog as it wasn't very useful, and if anything, annoying for anyone unwarned about turning down their speakers.
Generally feeling better about things, but still need to get this essay out of the way!!!

Mets and Ices
As we sat on the Met steps, with my kooky knee and his stubborn stomach, we discussed Ice Cream and how the Ice Cream from the Ice cream trucks are perhaps what Ice Cream is really about and really reminds me of summer. I admit I've been spoiled in the Ice cream department, my grandmother, whom I'd usually go to after school each day for a snack, upgraded from the still acceptable Neopolitan brown, white and pink variety to other kinds. I've also been spoiled with my Sicilian heritage and it's amazing ices...yet somehow, the generic Ice Cream truck chocolate or vanilla, or twist, dipped or not, will always be close to my heart and remind me of good memories. I was happy that afternoon, al beit in pain, eating the cones with Paul on the steps of the Met and maybe next time I hear the jingle and run down the street to get my cone, I'll remember the happiness I found in that perfect moment.
I love you. xx

Touch Down
Alright, one quick entry before I'm on my way. I just got back and I'm already dreaming of leaving again...Nassau, Orlando, San Diego, Cancun??...My time in Ames was really great and I learnt so many new things. Paul taught me how to play pool and develop b&w photographs in a darkroom. The idea of having a darkroom in my house someday is a really intriguing one now.
Managed to transfer onto earlier flights at the airports, though when I got home, there was a massive snowstorm, no mood to get to class, which was canceled anyways, so I didn't feel so guilty... Spent way too much time looking at flights and such last night, and am now somewhat addicted to sporcle.com, erg. Got to get back to the Uni workload asap.
Also, in Chicago, I had a Dark Cherry Mocha at Sbux and it was goood, I want it to get here too so Leah can make me some...and was reading the H&M mag and realized how big bloggers can get and want to look into some of the names I've seen, like Tavi Gevinson. My blog has made 1.00$ :] Speaking of which I need to watch my spending, I basically bought nothing for almost six months and recently I've been spending a lot of money and sometimes on useless things...so new rule, for every new thing that comes in, two must go out. Oh and find a job pronto. xx
Infamous TDL:
- read 'Shining under the Sea', Socio, Emile Zola, Maupassant, The Secret
- prepare for German exam
- fill out behavioural assessment forms
- fill up a rubbish bin this week
- write CV, job hunt. make lots of moula for the summertimez.
- new cellphone...?

Biagio
The weather is miserable but I feel pretty good, I'm just
having anxiety attacks regarding all the things that need to be done this week, but Friday afternoon I'll be leaving to see Paul!! :] I'm so excited, you have no idea. I've done a lot of 'brave' things lately and I'm pretty proud of myself, and it makes it ten times better when someone else tells you they're proud of you. When I have kids, I want to be one of those insanely supportive parents who will frame their kindergarten artwork and reward them with a trip to Disney Land...is that too much? I've never been to Disneyland, I wish I had been, so I'll most likely end up bringing my future spawn there. My parents brought my brother to the one in Paris, he was obsessed by Mickey Mouse comic books, I used to read them too, he also had Dylan Dog comics and I loved those, have you heard of them? I wonder where they are now...

ALSO, if you're in the King & Jarvis area, don't go to Biagio. It's a beautiful restaurant in the St. Lawrence area, but the owner really takes advantage of the 'italian' menu and the portions are smaller than a french restaurant...my friend had a birthday dinner there and it was so much fun and the plates were beautifully presented, but the rude waitress, awkward 600 bill and the lack of fullness...made it a bit funny.
So busy...I'm going to EXPLODE.

CBA = Can't be arsed.
I think I'm going to do the unthinkable and have a shower today...I'm reading Jimmy Corrigan - The Smartest Kid on Earth, it's just...so...sad. I can't wait to hear what the Prof thinks about it in lecture. I'm still in my pjays eating fruit salad and yogurt, the sky is blue and I've got so much work to do, but I'm stuck on Wikipedia, learning about Michelle Kwan...okay none of that!!

Going to make tomato and bocconcini salad for lunch. Don't tell him, but I've got yummy ideas for when I see Paul, also to prove to myself that I can be able to a) cook, b) put these cooking 'skills' to good use, c) make some one smile as a result, and maybe d) drool a little...Everyday my room gets better looking, but it's gotta move faster, it's kind of weird to think about where my room is...on the top left corner of the second building... Each time I'm walking I home, I look up and think of that corner like the corner of a chocolate bar and how my desk is right on the inside there, and that's where I walk about and sleep...
There's this idea of going to New York, but seriously, sometimes plane tickets make NO SENSE WHATSOEVER. I remember once looking at a flight to Paris and a flight to London...The flight to London cost twice as much as Paris but the flight to Paris made a stop at Heathrow! How weird is that? You might as well buy your ticket to Paris and then leave half way through...Maybe I SHOULD try and be a flight attendant and see if I get any insider knowledge in regards to that...
Also, did you watch Lost on Tuesday? (Who didn't...they rescheduled the State of the Union to air it...) Wow so much rambling...here's to getting through the next week!xx

Phoney
I JUST attempted to cut my own hair, and I hope it looks alright. I've got so much to do, housework and loads of homework and tests and midterms next week, I hope I make it out alive. Then I've got to pack :D

I don't think I've ever had a proper Valentines Day...but I'm not too demanding, I hope. I'm pretty excited about Valentines, I can't wait to see Paul and I've prepared a few things that I hope will make him smile, and my pie slice increase...:]
My apartment finally has cable (uh oh). I've never ever had cable before, 40 channels to distract me from my work. I love how I'm flipping through right now...and there's nothing I'm interested in...OH WELL. BUT I came home today to find out that we've got four phone jacks now, Hurray!
Cherry Cherry Pick up the Phone-y...xx

New Koi.
Let's do this, I said I would, didn't I? :)
New Year, New Flavia. Well almost, there's still quite a few things to tweak. Dyed my hair a bit too dark, but looks great with new hat from Paul, who came for what felt like a blissful eternity that was heaven. Now he's back at uni and I'm already itching to see him again in a few weeks. Trying to purchase ticket as we speak but can't find my ISIC card, so I'll need to call them in the morning.
sigh.
Lots to do still in the apartment and they are slowly falling into place, but much too slowly to my liking. Paul helped me a lot, putting up a shelf and a blind, we had a fun time at places like Canadian Tire and Pier 1, is it too soon to start dreaming? I have a few things I'm keeping aside for my 'future' abode. Polka dot plates, iron owls...
We've made summer plans and I'm so excited I might just burst, but I don't want to reveal too much. The superstitious side of me feels that I should wait because some envious person out there could see my happyness and send me a curse of sorts...do you ever think about something like that? Silly perhaps. In any case, planning must commence immediately for the best deals. However, finding a job would be ideal right now. Paul helped me buy a printer, so I can [finally] print out my CV, which could use an update actually, and go get a job! Money Money Mooooneeey! Moooney!!
Uni has begun again and now I'll have class everyday but I don't mind, it'll get me moving left and right and give me a reason to shower and brush my hair. I can still have my darling Duvet Tuesdays and Thursdays (and now Mondays too!) But they must end by 5pm the latest :) Italian, German, French, English and Sociology. Got an A- in Biotechnology, which makes me super happy. There was this other science course I was really interested in, but so far I really like my French course so I'm undecided what to do, but I think I'm going to leave everything as it is right now. I'm only half a credit behind which shouldn't be a problem. Imagine a marine biology half credit in Australia! Okay okay sorry, got out of hand there...I'll probably go to somewhere in Europe. Probably next year, if not third year.
Spent a burst of energy cleaning my bathroom and closet, was pleasantly interrupted by Paul from a Casino? in Minneapolis? winning at Slots? I love you. You're buying me dinner, yeah? :D

Two Blues Two Greens and a Beer
I suppose someday you'll be reading this. If the internet still exists by then, not replaced by something greater and much more dangerous.
I hope I make a good mother. I hope I brush your hair each night, and tuck you in tight. You'll someday get a puppy for Christmas if you haven't already, with a big red bow. Sorry to spoil the surprise.
Today, I've got the Blues. I know I'll get out of it.
But for now. They're here.
Is Art just a symptom of an Artist's disease? I am sick.
I am about to witness my second decade, my dear child. I'm planning to spend the Countdown on the beach, by the lake, with a bottle of cranberry Champanade under a blanket, with my Romeo. Bliss. How about you?

Humbuggery
Between Christmas and I, It's Complicated. Not a big fan, not gonna lie. But...I eventually give in when I think of all the yummy foods I'll be seeing that only come around this time of year.
My room is coming along but I really have too many things. How is it possible since this room is bigger than my last ones? Sadly they all have some meaning related to them...Berlin, Elementary school, jar of rocks from Sicily, Harry Potter craze, Spice Girls craze...so slowly but surely, some will have to be eliminated. It might be awhile before my room is exactly as I want it to be. Not a fan of the wall colour either, but that will certainly need to wait.

I've been watching LOST, I want to catch up before the final season. Gosh I love that show so much!! This photograph was taken by Paul at his work in the lab. He's gotten his images in the calendar too! I imagine this one looks a lot like the universe. That reminds me of the ending of MIB.
I've been working hard these past days with barely any breaks inbetween. I seriously need some relaxos! but I really want to get it all done ASAP. School begins the fourth, which is ridiculously lame, and I need to buy my German textbook and my French Culture textbook. I hope I enjoy those classes. My worst case scenario was that I dropped one and take another Science Seminar instead. Thus completing my Science credit. I loved 'Biotechnology and Society', thanks to Paul for making me go for it, rather than 'Marine Animals and their Environments'.
Happy Holidays!

Boxy
Moved in! Wellll, almost. There's a storage container that needs to be unloaded tomorrow, so that's one more day of extra human strength until I can concentrate on everything else. Lots and lots of unpacking to do still and my crazy ikea bed won't assemble itself, so I need to bring a piece of it all the way to effing ikea to get it unstuck or else replaced, how lame is that? Subway is a five minute walk, and I have yet to find my proper winter coat (erg) so I've been wearing some interesting layers so far. I just lugged home an 18kg box of cat litter looking like a crazy cat lady. My kitty will now have to be an indoor cat sadly, but so far she seems to be coping. She's almost 12 years old in any case, though she still looks and acts like a kitten.
Going to attempt to set up the TV et Al. The rest of the house is starting to work out and I have my own bathroom and walk-in closet which I'm pretty excited about, but setting myself all up is taking quite some time and I'd really like to be done before xmas, especially before I see Paul. :) I've got some pretty neat ideas, but I'll worry about anything major later, as well as when it starts getting warmer. I was planning on hanging Klimt's kiss above my bed, then laying down this orange carpet I've had since my childhood, that has a klimty circle type pattern that could go well. We'll see what happens. But right now what I would like is a proper desk. I need to make sure I'm all set for Uni before it starts again on [sadly] the fourth, since the first is on a friday this year.
I am a constellation of bruises and cuts, I need me some pampering! I'll be soaking in the tub each night until they decide to install water meters in...splish splash! xx

Fingers Toes
Literature lecture today was inspiring, we were reading Ariel by Sylvia Plath, talking about how Freud claims art is the symptom of the artist's disease. I don't know if I could live in a world without art. Baudelaire says you can live 3 days without food but not a single day without art. Paul went back to Uni on Tuesday, we share so much music and art together, I guess that's wh
y todays lecture struck a chord. He bought me a copy of Klimt's kiss :) I can't wait to put it up in my room, as well as a old map, so I can map out any travels! I've got South Africa on my mind... I'll see him soon after Christmas, but I feel so brave and hopeful. To the stars!
Ps: My brother proposed to his girlfriend!

Said the Lion
The only time,
That my heart,
Will ever shatter and fall apart,
Is the day,
That we part -
In death,
Through a life endured -
In a day,
Never cured -
In hopes and cries forevermore
To see your face,
And feel your paw,
Held in place,
Upon my cheek,
When I was weak -
To hear the mighty wonderful roar,
Forever missed,
Forever raw,
Of the one,
I adore
Forevermore
